The anime begins with a grim scene of a girl who seems to have gone berserk and kills everything in sight. With no further explanation, the zooms back to the current time, with a seemingly ordinary high school female student (except for needing daily blood transfusions) named Saya Otonashi, who is adopted into George Miyagusuki's Family. George served in the recently past Vietnam War and now runs a restaurant in Okinawa. Things change quickly when Saya runs back to school grounds after hours as she stumbles upon a mysterious being roaming the school grounds. After being cornered in a classroom, a second mysterious person jumps in and fends off the monster. Having no idea who this person is, she is frozen in place until this man gives his blood to Saya, which seems to react and seems to possess Saya, who takes the sword the man gives her and finishes off the monster. She then continues on to learn the identity of these monsters and her role in stopping these monsters.

This particular anime has a lot going for it in the Characterization category. The characters are very distinct and they stick to you from the first episode. You feel for all of the protagonists, and you come to hate all of the antagonists, especially the main antagonist, Diva. The story isn't bad, but there's a few dead spots in the anime because of the length of this particular anime. The music isn't very memorable, but it's not to the point that it gets annoying. However, I'd have to say, the Opening theme and Ending themes don't really fit the anime.
