| Plot Overview | In the most recent revelation given by the Holy Church of Mauser, it is said that there will be twins born into nobility. Upon birth, it is said that the girl should be killed immediately in order to secure the future of the world. That is the Scrapped Princess. The anime features a traveling group of siblings, Pacifica Cassul (THE Scrapped Princess), Shannon Cassul (A powerful swordsman), and Raquel Cassul (A sorceress). They travel from town to town in order to avoid being caught by the Royal Forces who are after the Scrapped Princess. As they travel from town to town, they learn more about the dangerous situation that they are in and the overall scheme of things. As they learn, the eventually strive to change their "predetermined" fates by fighting against the god, Mauser, and god's supposed messengers, the Peacemakers. |
| Thoughts/Opinions | This one, I think I was biased since I came out of watching 3 non-Fantasy related anime and comedy based anime in a row, and, obviously, this one is drastically different. Sure, there's comedy involved, but not to the level of the last 3. The first thing I will praise about this anime is the cleanliness of the art. It's not in widescreen, but the animation is smooth, and it just looks great. The characters are quite well developed, but it's somewhat annoying that you have no idea exactly who is on the protagonist's side most of the time because lots of characters switch sides at different parts of the anime. The story is a mixed bag as well because you probably have no idea what's going on until a while in, like 10 episodes. It's one thing if you don't know what's going on, but when the characters don't know what's going on either, it's a bit weird. I suppose you fit right into the characters shoes easily, so it's not nearly that bad. The music is quite good, however. I can't say that I can recall one, but it adds to the mood and atmosphere greatly. One thing that really annoyed me, however, and it's just a personal taste issue, is the break in the middle of every episode where it plays this really cheesy piece of music for like 3 seconds, which completely takes you out of the mood of whatever it was in. It could be a heated battle, and then a break, and you're greeted with that in another second, and you just completely lose the atmosphere of whatever was happening before the break. Just a personal opinion, but it really does annoy me.
Another additional note: While it certainly didn't start out that way, this particular anime walks the line of borderline Mecha anime. It's probably better if it didn't, but still, I have to make a point that it came very close. They're huge weapons that people control, but at the same time, they have living qualities, so it's not really mecha, but it comes damn close. |
